How to make Firefox load pages faster... almost at the speed of light

OK, not at the speed of light, but noticeably faster than before. Here are a few steps to making your firefox browser a little faster. Firefox comes preset for dial-up users, but can be optimized for better performance if you have a faster connection. This is for users with at least a broadband connection.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Firefox browser
  • High speed connection (not dial-up)
Step1
Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return.
Step2
Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Step3
Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
Step4
Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Tips & Warnings

  • Enjoy your faster Firefox browsing!
  • This will not mess up your computer, but if you accidentally change the wrong thing, it can easily be reversed to its original state.
