Knowto Repair A Scratched DVD?

One of the best modes of enjoying audio and visual recordings is through the DVD. It is common for you to pay for a compact disc at exorbitant prices you would hardly imagine. But it is sure that the quality of what you get is far more when compared to the price you pay. While facing the trouble posed by scratched DVDs seem frustrating, there is virtually no way in which scratches on your DVD can be guarded against. Scratches on your DVD should not signal an end to that disc. Remember that you can find a good repair kit where you paid for that DVD. Through these, you may be able to personally fix some visible scratches on your DVD.

Ahead of attempting to repair your scratched DVD, you should first all determine the type of scratch that has affected your DVD. If the scratch has affected the DVD from the middle of the disc right to the exterior position or it is a shallow scratch, this is a sure case that it can be repaired. Remember that the DVD plays in a spherical pattern beginning from the interior sphere, moving to the exterior edge. But if the damage on the DVD is in a way that tags along the spherical pattern of the whole DVD or the scratch is deep, the chances that the DVD might be repaired are too slim. But there is nothing bad in attempting to fix the DVD. Remember that the cost of the repairs kits cost nothing when compared to what you pay for the DVD.

Another option to absolve you from scratches on the DVD is to get rid of the DVD. This might be unbearable to you. You can equally return the DVD if there was a return policy when you paid for the DVD. But remember that you must prove that you took all reasonable steps to avoid the scratch and must return it within that stipulated time.

However, if you must repair a scratch on your DVD, begin with this simple home remedy. The only requirement is a fine cloth similar to that used in polishing jewelries. This is a tested and proven method that is known to be effective when the scratch is not severe. The fine cloth is used to clean the silvery surface of the DVD. The DVD should be cleaned starting from the inside and moving to the outside. Avoid cleaning it in a circular manner because you may damage the recordings which are embedded in the DVD in that circular manner. This may even worsen the scratch. The process is done again until the DVD is quite clean. The cleanliness should be detectable under a very bright light.

If this does not give you the required results, you can repeat the process. But this time, light furniture cleaner should be used ahead of rinsing it in pure water. Leave the rinsed DVD to dry for about ten hour before playing it.

This may still not provide you with what you want. You may further go to any DVD rental shop and inquire if they have the machine used for polishing DVDs. Keep in mind that the idea of polishing the DVD is to shallow the scratch and make it look less obvious. If this does not still work, you should either check the quality of your DVD because there are some which are so responsive to scratches and impurities on the DVD, or you should go in for another DVD.
